	<legis-body id="H61A7C3346A134283A4E0535DC00EE462" style="OLC">
 <section id="H512CF88A4D5944B8B851CDBB75A90516" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Extending Justice for Sex Crime Victims Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H9CBFD4186AEB453C95B0AC2BF584EE93"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of statute of limitations for civil remedy for personal injuries</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Part I of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="HEFB6484FFD8A43C8A7770BBDFC891201"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in section 1595(c)—</text> <subparagraph id="H8EF11EF8AC934AF1882F49B58D55B237"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>the later of</quote>; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HBA33F30403534A69A495F0235EC89211"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (1) by striking <quote>after the cause of action arose; or</quote> and inserting the following:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HF282B6CAEC87447992D11A00612CF09B" style="OLC"> <text>after the date upon which the plaintiff discovers the later of—</text><subparagraph id="HDC80BBD6CA504FD4A89861EA8326B8EC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the violation that forms the basis for the claim; or</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H40C2B645BEB044E295E139459F383DA9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the injury that forms the basis for the claim; or</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H0E3636A4D45D43FBB3D87AEB6AB71603"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in section 2255(b), by striking <quote>filed within 10 years</quote> and all that follows through the end and inserting the following:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H7D270EE546E24F1684A86E46CB0FC45E" style="OLC"> <text>filed—</text><paragraph id="HA499A425AFB84800B5813930FC101FE8"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">not later than 10 years after the date upon which the plaintiff discovers the later of—</text> <subparagraph id="HF3DBDCCDAF714B25BB76E51F89F1FBB2"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the violation that forms the basis for the claim; or</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3E0111A3C1C44F0F88E39984871ABA2A"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the injury that forms the basis for the claim; or</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HCD578CD8222B4C899806D0271F120511"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of a person under a legal disability, not later than 10 years after the disability ends.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
