			 fiscal year 2016 end-strength minimum levels for the active and reserve
			 components of such land forces, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="idC7BA5DB86C5B4A4F80B5CCD7B41C32A2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protecting Our Security Through Utilizing Right-Sized End-Strengths Act of 2016</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>POSTURE Act of 2016</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="id3862C3DC89184772948AAC29D6207E33" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Given the volatile, uncertain, and ambiguous world and the need for trained and ready Land Forces of the United States, in conjunction with joint and multinational forces, to deter threats, shape the international security environment, respond to emergent situations and crises, and, if necessary, to fight and win the Nation’s wars, it is the sense of Congress that the planned drawdown of Land Forces should immediately cease.</text>
		</section><section id="HDE2AA7F865024D1EAF9F668288E1AB2D"><enum>3.</enum><header>Fiscal year 2016 end strength levels for Land Forces of the United States</header>
			<subsection id="H4EF4B2E5CD644FE7959593249630A174"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Active forces</header>
 <paragraph id="H8ED3177C4E3448A3A4CDCF54DB3A116B"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Army</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorized strength for active duty personnel of the Army as of September 30, 2016, is 480,000.</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H6BBDD60726604F6A825926D28E69EB41"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Marine corps</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorized strength for active duty personnel of the Marine Corps as of September 30, 2016, is 184,000.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H4B7035CD277D456FA02BB083B6C6E91E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Selected Reserve</header>
 <paragraph id="HBCE9B3C755804F0180FF296DD5522CBF"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Army reserve components</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorized strength for Selected Reserve personnel of the reserve components of the Army as of September 30, 2016, are as follows:</text>
 <subparagraph id="H458DF76CBBE149ABBFE10B3C4BC4593A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The Army National Guard of the United States, 350,000.</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H93A35685627046B6B1AB4F4D09DCB6E4"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The Army Reserve, 205,000.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HB52D99069A0E41498FA8D298C16EF5ED"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Marine corps reserve</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorized strength for Selected Reserve personnel of the Marine Corps Reserve as of September 30, 2016, is 38,900.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection></section><section id="HAEFCC9143B7D4394BAEFC71C17F15B57"><enum>4.</enum><header>Revision in permanent active duty end strength minimum levels</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 691(b) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking paragraphs (1) through (4) and inserting the following:</text>

 <paragraph id="H72AC525636044614AD6851F391CB5204"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For the Army, 480,000.</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H42C104230E93429EB460C1C91190F2A1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>For the Navy, 329,200.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H0AE2CF8C15924231BE9FF7393A0CB195"><enum>(3)</enum><text>For the Marine Corps, 184,000.</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="HEE7E1D79C5754E37AB23D35F7D455D79"><enum>(4)</enum><text>For the Air Force, 317,000.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
