<official-title>To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize aliens who are covered by certain immigration policies and who otherwise satisfy the requirements for admission to a military service academy to be appointed to and attend a military service academy and, upon graduation, to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the Armed Forces.</official-title>

<section id="HDAF3506CD4C4449BA1D0D3E666BA18E8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Opportunity for Military Academies and Readiness Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HE241CE92EAD04DA6B3200E16EA1D6BEA" display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authority to appoint certain aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States as cadets and midshipmen at military service academies</header> <subsection id="HC819E8FE0440456E95800C7949BB082E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>United States Military academy</header><text>Section 4346 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="H82594C5279B24F5B87A2C41BC0A1757D" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<subsection id="H4D66A18C56D54F7B8CEC0FA557185227"><enum>(e)</enum> 
<paragraph id="H0FA1260F5A434763A07F335DCAC55024" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An alien who, at the time of application for admission to the Academy, possesses an employment authorization document issued by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services under the requirements of the Department of Homeland Security policy dated June 15, 2012, and entitled <quote>Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals</quote> (DACA) or the memorandum dated November 20, 2014, and entitled <quote>Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion with Respect to Individuals Who Came to the United States and Children and with Respect to Certain Individuals Who are Parents of U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents</quote> and who otherwise satisfies the requirements for admission to the Academy, other than the United States citizenship requirement, may be—</text> <subparagraph id="H77E48A4BA6704D449C54E6416AA396AB" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>appointed as a cadet and attend the Academy; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H77E3D14FF4864A98A3426BC7C44A8D3E" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>upon graduation, be appointed as a commissioned officer in the armed forces.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="HA5736B1F75AB496A9691130A063E9404" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in paragraph (1) shall be construed to alter the process prescribed by sections 328, 329, and 329A of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1439">8 U.S.C. 1439</external-xref>, 1440, 1440) by which a person may naturalize through service in the armed forces.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H2F647D18D7674D86BA2AB4CB5BAF70AE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Naval academy</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 6958 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H77BB25314D03448690DEA0C0538E440C" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="H40572EA8DCD94FDAAF47FC32E8F159B9"><enum>(e)</enum> <paragraph id="H8B3007EE26B44754BCCC2C3EDE1473FE" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An alien who, at the time of application for admission to the Naval Academy, possesses an employment authorization document issued by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services under the requirements of the Department of Homeland Security policy dated June 15, 2012, and entitled <quote>Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals</quote> (DACA) or the memorandum dated November 20, 2014, and entitled <quote>Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion with Respect to Individuals Who Came to the United States and Children and with Respect to Certain Individuals Who are Parents of U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents</quote> and who otherwise satisfies the requirements for admission to the Academy, other than the United States citizenship requirement, may be—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H76BC1B2FF0E4439FA36517EBF150882A" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>appointed as a midshipman and attend the Academy; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H5B04E077FD244149B141A01C9BE746ED" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>upon graduation, be appointed as a commissioned officer in the armed forces.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H63F6CD61466C42DCB343A162140D4E0F" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in paragraph (1) shall be construed to alter the process prescribed by sections 328, 329, and 329A of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1439">8 U.S.C. 1439</external-xref>, 1440, 1440) by which a person may naturalize through service in the armed forces.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> <subsection id="H3ECB9DC165114BD7A12AE53B3710A61A"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Air force academy</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 9346 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
