		<official-title>To provide student loan forgiveness for American Indian educators teaching in local educational
			 agencies with a high percentage of American Indian students. </official-title>

	<legis-body><section id="id4A40237011A24C359135EDB749B99B96" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>American Indian Teacher Loan Forgiveness Act of 2014</short-title></quote>.</text>

			<enum>2.</enum>
			<header>Student loan forgiveness for American Indian educators teaching in local educational agencies with
			 a high percentage of American Indian students</header><subsection id="id6495A14D377C4793A3E31D3CD45AAA35"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Part B loans</header>
				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 428J(c) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1078-10">20 U.S.C. 1078–10(c)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at
			 the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id24A17BA4C49F4D9B89EC3C98E84E4587" style="OLC"><paragraph id="id85786268B5C04241A15C1942213A89B7"><enum>(4)</enum><header>American Indian teachers in local educational agencies with a high percentage of American Indian
			 students</header><text>Notwithstanding the amount specified in paragraph (1) and the requirements under subparagraphs (A)
			 and (B) of subsection (b)(1), the aggregate amount that the Secretary
			 shall repay under this section shall be not more than
			 $17,500 in the case of a borrower who—</text><subparagraph id="id841E86128EEE401E9DCBEB2A52BDCBB8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>has been employed as a full-time teacher for 5 consecutive  complete school years as a teacher in
			 a local educational agency described in section 7112(b) of the Elementary
			 and Secondary Education Act of 1965 or in a school overseen by the Bureau
			 of Indian Education of the Department; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idE7B06F5CE990417AAF6CA30F79F798E1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is
			 a member of an Indian tribe (as defined in section 4 of the Indian
			 Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/450b">25 U.S.C. 450b</external-xref>)).</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="id78876A34A88F44F38ED50BB270E753C8"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Part D loans</header><text>Section 460(c) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1087j">20 U.S.C. 1087j(c)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the
			 end the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id84B62D8BB5AE49FDB2534A7A8A8CDB32" style="OLC"><paragraph id="idE0CD876D270E491C8FFFF98F0DF33C34"><enum>(4)</enum><header>American Indian teachers in local educational agencies with a high percentage of American Indian
			 students</header><text>Notwithstanding the amount specified in paragraph (1) and the requirements under subparagraphs (A)
			 and (B) of subsection (b)(1), the aggregate amount that the Secretary
			 shall cancel under this section shall be not more than
			 $17,500 in the case of a borrower who—</text><subparagraph id="id77CD3758BB0C42CA807D60751AD48219"><enum>(A)</enum><text>has been employed as a full-time teacher for 5 consecutive  complete school years as a teacher in a
			 local educational agency described in section 7112(b) of the Elementary
			 and Secondary Education Act of 1965 or in a school overseen by the Bureau
			 of Indian Education of the Department; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idCC2AE39E4BF44D18A2A7E8D64351A151"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is
