			<enum>1.</enum>
			<header>Short title</header>
			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Military Opportunities for Mothers Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>MOM Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H2678BB7F12784306B4CF401B433AA7D4" section-type="subsequent-section">
			<enum>2.</enum>
			<header>Availability of additional leave for members of the Armed Forces in connection with the birth of a
			 child</header>
			<text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/701">Section 701(j)</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HD766A6A1C5644E049A395990E64EC8E6">
				<enum>(1)</enum>
				<text>by redesignating paragraphs (1) and (2) as paragraphs (2) and (3), respectively;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H9533546B8F794D20B72FFA3A895091BF">
				<enum>(2)</enum>
				<text>by inserting after <quote>(j)</quote> the following new paragraph (1):</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0650285D238C468A997401456FCE1987" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H4B9037EC646940A78B83ED5CD88990E0" indent="up1">
						<enum>(1)</enum>
						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary concerned, a member of the armed forces who gives
			 birth to a child shall receive 42 days of convalescent leave to be used in
			 connection with the birth of the child. At the discretion of the member,
			 the member shall be allowed up to 42 additional days in a leave of absence
			 status in connection with the birth of the child upon the expiration of
			 the convalescent leave, except that—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H7C54553CDEB346A08E0763B91C769D67">
							<enum>(A)</enum>
							<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a member who uses this additional leave is not entitled to basic pay for any day on which such
			 additional leave is used, but shall be considered to be on active duty for
			 all other purposes; and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8EACD6B02BAA40E5AF94EED1C7B16394">
							<enum>(B)</enum>
							<text>the commanding officer of the member may recall the member to duty from such leave of absence
			 status when necessary to maintain unit readiness.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HFDFA205DB68E4BF8AACADC3ADF65B2C9">
				<enum>(3)</enum>
				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (3), as redesignated by paragraph (1) of this section, by striking <quote>paragraph (1)</quote> and inserting <quote>paragraphs (1) and (2)</quote>.</text>
