		<official-title>To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to inter in
			 national cemeteries individuals who supported the United States in Laos
			 during the Vietnam War era.</official-title>

			<enum>1.</enum>
			<header>Short title</header>
			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Hmong Veterans’ Service Recognition Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H2C55BECBF2B0406CB740B5BC782C1336" section-type="subsequent-section">
			<enum>2.</enum>
			<header>Eligibility for interment in national cemeteries</header>
			<subsection id="HD6D367C56BB3428CACD2079D7EFC1D73">
				<enum>(a)</enum>
				<header>In general</header>
				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/2402">Section 2402(a)</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H793A65FF53784A5F8C429C971038DAA4" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H49924CB6EE5848609CCFF045D634F7C5">
						<enum>(10)</enum>
						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any individual—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H2500C8E74CA04B388A5057CA498AED63">
							<enum>(A)</enum>
							<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">who—</text>
							<clause id="H4E375F12812848C4A4D5D1764E92A0CA">
								<enum>(i)</enum>
								<text>was naturalized pursuant to section 2(1) of the Hmong Veterans’ Naturalization Act of 2000 (Public
			 Law 106–207; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1423">8 U.S.C. 1423</external-xref> note); and</text>
							</clause><clause id="HD98C001FDD1D416BBB9C659E2E040B99">
								<enum>(ii)</enum>
								<text>at the time of the individual’s death resided in the United States; or</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFA0F56FDBA18456197504076D64DB828">
							<enum>(B)</enum>
							<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">who—</text>
							<clause id="HE81CFB79F5FD4AB090C3A141AA27F4C3">
								<enum>(i)</enum>
								<text>the Secretary determines served with a special guerrilla unit or irregular forces operating from a
			 base in Laos in support of the Armed Forces of the United States at any
			 time during the period beginning February 28, 1961, and ending May 7,
			 1975; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H8A4DE87949CF402A8219B24D1BCBDD01">
								<enum>(ii)</enum>
								<text>at the time of the individual’s death—</text>
								<subclause id="H660F024A5A8E44B288156A411D2D958E">
									<enum>(I)</enum>
									<text>was a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the
			 United States; and</text>
								</subclause><subclause id="HEEF05FB22BC9452381CEDCE016F3732A">
									<enum>(II)</enum>
									<text>resided in the United States.</text>
								</subclause></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>. </after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HAA4BC90D332040E292875EF228CEF6B1">
				<enum>(b)</enum>
				<header>Effective date</header>
				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by this Act shall apply with respect to an individual dying on or after the date
			 of the enactment of this Act.</text>
