			 injuries sustained in the line of duty and proximately resulting in death.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fairness for Fallen Officers Act of 2014</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id6EA078CC6A664F129D66F20984C4B52B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Benefits for families of public safety officers who suffer fatal climate-related injuries</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1201 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3796">42 U.S.C. 3796</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id3A7EDEC7CCF147118C143CE97307E5A6"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (k)—</text><subparagraph id="id7A9E97A0A71D42C08A22FA9E0886949C"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>or vascular rupture</quote> and inserting <quote>vascular rupture, or climate-related injury</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idCDD5E4EAC85548329A78FFBC32B95D2A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)(A), by inserting <quote>exposure to extreme environmental conditions,</quote> after <quote>disaster relief,</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idD16127140083420DA85F0F19E48B2291"><enum>(C)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by striking <quote>or vascular rupture</quote> and inserting <quote>vascular rupture, or climate-related injury</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idC1D33B8E8776447384E320E82B074245"><enum>(D)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking <quote>or vascular rupture</quote> and inserting <quote>vascular rupture, or climate-related injury</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id91F2E086D6C841A9824AC6950CB5CED9"><enum>(E)</enum><text>in the flush text following paragraph (3), by striking <quote>or vascular rupture</quote> and inserting <quote>vascular rupture, or climate-related injury</quote>; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id550D27E8C36349ADBB0673D5FEAE91AD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by amending subsection (l) to read as follows:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idED75A6C5378F476286379DB19E01BF79" style="OLC"><subsection id="id0ED0E4451C0A4C9D86AF512DB73447A5"><enum>(l)</enum><text>For purposes of subsection (k)—</text><paragraph id="idCF909406C7F34D018ECAD9CDE7605C3F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the term <term>climate-related injury</term> means an injury that is caused by an environmental condition experienced by an officer, including
			 hypothermia, heatstroke, and hyperthermia; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idA5F35837B8564B7BB376712C7F8B4FD7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the term <term>nonroutine stressful or strenuous physical</term> excludes actions of a clerical, administrative, or nonmanual nature.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
