		<official-title>To ban hydraulic fracturing on land owned by the United States and leased to a third party, and for
			 other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H62034ED8AD5C47849CD1FE54980AEDAC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect Our Public Lands Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H916B05B301134CB48EE1831C5161A31C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting hydraulic fracturing under Federal leases</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Mineral Leasing Act is amended by inserting after section 37 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/30/193">30 U.S.C. 193</external-xref>) the following:</text>

				<section id="H69A9C21442DE4D7FB4E91CD89BD16C35"><enum>38.</enum><header>No hydraulic fracturing on leased land</header>
					<subsection id="H447FA3C9903240F9BCA37DB4ACA766E9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any lease issued, renewed, or readjusted under this Act shall prohibit the lessee from conducting
			 any activity under the lease for the purpose of hydraulic fracturing.</text>
					</subsection><subsection id="HDF211ACAAD394DFF977DAB4E01FD7391"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definition of hydraulic fracturing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the term <quote>hydrauling fracturing</quote> means an operation conducted in an individual wellbore designed to increase the flow of
			 hydrocarbons from a rock formation to the wellbore through modifying the
			 permeability of reservoir rock by fracturing it, except that such term
			 does not include enhanced secondary recovery, including water flooding,
			 tertiary recovery, and other types of well stimulation operations.</text>
					</subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
		</section><section id="HA881728274624BB6BA63B6E3B3A46184"><enum>3.</enum><header>Application</header>
			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendment made by section 2 shall not apply to a lease in effect on the date of the enactment
			 of this Act until the renewal or adjustment of the lease.</text>
