		<section id="H52C1ACDEFAFD409F9D7898658EB74173" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H77173C1D42C8412DBDA9701526BBC66E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Congress finds that—</text>
			<paragraph id="H6C2D8038DA9A48ED81DC97CF5F57F142"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">women make up almost 50 percent of the workforce, but less than 25 percent of the workforce in
			 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H20C06416857E4DF5ABB25593032B3AE1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>women are less likely to focus on the STEM disciplines in undergraduate and graduate study;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H103329A3A4DB46048086D1633A8AD2A2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>only 26 percent of women who do attain degrees in STEM fields work in STEM jobs;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HF9C61D1CE3814A7A85D5E20FBB81FAE0"><enum>(4)</enum><text>there is an increasing demand for individuals with STEM degrees to extend their focus beyond the
			 laboratory so they can be leaders in discovery commercialization;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H5963E8C1B02B4FC299A3FA0A0847EFBF"><enum>(5)</enum><text>studies have shown that technology and commercialization ventures are more successful when women
			 are in top management positions; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H04EA8E9D68AF48569A14AC30756AE14D"><enum>(6)</enum><text>the National Science Foundation’s mission includes supporting women in STEM disciplines.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="H00220280740D46B7A5A0544280963D0C"><enum>3.</enum><header>Supporting women’s entrepreneurial programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 33 of the Science and Engineering Equal Opportunities Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1885a">42 U.S.C. 1885a</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H5957BDB065DF41C580CCCBFC4D6DE5AD"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end of paragraph (10);</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HF3CBB15B648E428EB1B1BD88BE05913A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end of paragraph (11) and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H3315A5FCECA24564A95905A91D43EBA6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

					<paragraph id="HD7FB7DD7F6F945D4A862AB3BC008009B"><enum>(12)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">support entrepreneurial programs that recruit and support women to extend their focus beyond the
			 laboratory and into the commercial world.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
