		<official-title>To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to increase the amount of loan forgiveness for which
			 teachers in teacher shortage areas are eligible.</official-title>

		<section id="H80D8FAE7A9704AC69EE7D503B99AB904" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Maximizing Opportunities and Retaining Experienced Teachers Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote>MORE Act</quote> .</text>
		</section><section id="H12A6A26E2C424CED8135A7DC1982F3FC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Loan forgiveness for teachers in teacher shortage areas</header>
			<subsection id="HFC8047E218C04A41A2C74D392D6989C2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>FFEL Loans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 428J of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1078-10">20 U.S.C. 1078–10</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H6659B12CD5E94D1589F672A4716F2B42"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (c), by adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H80828CA23D20413B8554CCBCB91D037D" style="OLC">
						<paragraph id="HC5A69AD65631440EAEF6B8632D4C6564"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Additional amounts for teachers in teacher shortage areas</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding the amount specified in paragraph (1), the aggregate amount that the Secretary
			 shall repay under this section shall be not more than $17,500 in the case
			 of an elementary school or secondary school teacher who meets the
			 requirements of subsection (b), except that in lieu of being employed in a
			 school or location described in paragraph (1)(A) of subsection (b), the
			 teacher has been employed in a teacher shortage area (as defined in
			 <external-xref legal-doc="regulation" parsable-cite="cfr/34/682.210">section 682.210(q)(5)</external-xref> of title 34, Code of Federal Regulations (as in
			 effect on the date of enactment of the Maximizing Opportunities and
			 Retaining Experienced Teachers Act)).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="HF3BD1A892E814C1098221FF0486125CA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (g)(1)(A), by inserting <quote>or subsection (c)(4)</quote> after <quote>subsection (b)(1)(A)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HB7E25ACABBA5487DAFF27A5876D75F33"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Federal Direct Loans</header><text>Section 460 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1087j">20 U.S.C. 1087j</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H7B98E19210874B45927319FF1AB76A3F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (c), by adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H296F83DE10DC4452A1D496B7BA43B8F5" style="OLC">
						<paragraph id="H027B806C4722465382118FF54CF40C8D"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Additional amounts for teachers in teacher shortage areas</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding the amount specified in paragraph (1), the aggregate amount that the Secretary
			 shall repay under this section shall be not more than $17,500 in the case
