		<section id="HBBE9AFE6707145D2AA4424FBB94635EF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Federal Employee Combat Zone Tax Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H6215A34763DA4081AA5A98D898AC09DA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion from gross income for certain combat zone compensation of civilian employees of the
			 United States</header>
			<subsection id="HE83989E91E1B43A599F2E390C47ED502"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/112">Section 112</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to certain combat zone compensation of
			 members of the Armed Forces) is amended by redesignating subsections (c)
			 and (d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively, and by inserting after
			 subsection (b) the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF0C1EAD245F746F6951E8864AC309B94" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H22F174B9581D42E6A0744ED4A5702E0C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Civilian employees</header>
						<paragraph id="H9E0D162848554431A23961BFFB3B1487"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Gross income does not include so much of the compensation as does not exceed the maximum amount
			 specified in subsection (b) for active service as an employee of the
			 United States for any month during any part of which such employee—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H7597E2F070AD4B68991D001E599DB454"><enum>(A)</enum><text>served in a combat zone, or</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFA76B24607E449F4A8455413A1665801"><enum>(B)</enum><text>was hospitalized as a result of wounds, disease, or injury incurred while serving in a combat zone,</text></subparagraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="paragraph">but this paragraph shall not apply for any month beginning more than 2 years after the date of the
			 termination of combatant activities in such zone.</continuation-text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCE8EB35E58784903B03EF809DFC3D8F4"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>For purposes of this subsection—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H224C55B041244956BD843F7D7F22F616"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Employee</header><text>The term <quote>employee</quote> has the meaning given such term by <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/2105">section 2105</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code.</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H833D018063DA44829689F9E5ACF78227"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Active service</header><text>The term <term>active service</term> means active Federal service by an employee.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HB1B3C80EB3914800BAB7AC8DAFC29460"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendments</header>
				<paragraph id="H8E3CCE337B714E559231442578BF57C4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Section 2201(b) of such Code is amended by striking <quote>112(c)</quote> both places it appears and inserting <quote>112(d)</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H424BB860D912466FA5CC3E780136AE8E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The heading for section 112 of such Code is amended to read as follows:</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph id="HEC81A218C66E41868EAD10C7ABBC4249"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The item relating to section 112 in the table of sections for part III of subchapter B of chapter 1
			 of such Code is amended to read as follows:</text>

							<toc-entry level="section">Sec. 112. Certain combat zone compensation of members of the Armed Forces and civilian employees of
			 the United States.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HDADB0EDDEDBD4D0B8651F312A47F5469"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after the date of the
			 enactment of this Act.</text>
