<official-title display="yes">To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate segments of the mainstem of the Nashua River and its tributaries in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for study for potential addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="HEFB532B262904DEFB1FF32543B9AFA0A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Nashua River Wild and Scenic River Study Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section> 
<section id="HA3352239B7D44455B0BF94A30A512067"><enum>2.</enum><header>Designation for study</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H70E0185A6FE345D2AE51ABFA72912991"><enum>(___)</enum><header>Nashua River, Massachusetts</header> 
<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H72D3AA10F5DC4A919069CB684F9F7997"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The approximately 19-mile segment of the mainstem of the Nashua River from the confluence of the North and South Nashua Rivers in Lancaster, Massachusetts, north to the Massachusetts/New Hampshire State line, except the approximately 4.8-mile segment of the mainstem of the Nashua River from the Route 119 bridge in Groton, Massachusetts, downstream to its confluence with the Nissitissit River in Pepperell, Massachusetts.</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC0D81082280449E89340451625F7BED9" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The 10-mile segment of the Squannacook River from its headwaters at Ash Swamp downstream to its confluence with the Nashua River in Shirley/Ayer, Massachusetts.</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H64D4DC3987FB4DA0A32C556C1D41B77F" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>The 3.5-mile segment of the Nissitissit River from the Massachusetts/New Hampshire State line downstream to its confluence with the Nashua River in Pepperell, Massachusetts.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section> 
<section id="HEA95E851EE48425DB779334A25240EE8"><enum>3.</enum><header>Study and report</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(b) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1276">16 U.S.C. 1276(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H47776FE90F294E31B3BF8C41C1D35A47"><enum>(__)</enum><header>Study and report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are made available to carry out this paragraph, the Secretary of the Interior shall complete the study of the Nashua River in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as described in subsection (a)(___), and submit a report describing the results of that study to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate.</text> </paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section> 
<section id="HC2A7E85084D74AB4B8C26A8787079A0F"><enum>4.</enum><header>Report requirements</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The report required under section 3 of this Act shall—</text> 
<paragraph id="H20E21799BC2248FBA37986A61C6D7370"><enum>(1)</enum><text>include a discussion of the effect of the designation of the area to be studied under this Act under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act on—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H73B6569207C24058B34F9B63ED593AD1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>existing commercial and recreational activities, such as hunting, fishing, trapping, recreational shooting, motor boat use, or bridge construction;</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H2BD97856FBCA4DEF9BDEF76AA670B687"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the authorization, construction, operation, maintenance, or improvement of energy production and transmission infrastructure; and</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HA12F39BB020548EA9E3FFD123FD9AE4B"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the authority of State and local governments to manage those activities encompassed in subparagraphs (A) and (B); and</text> </subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HAE113121A4E74724A47D066D0CF13519"><enum>(2)</enum><text>identify—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H9BD003D7E318426A838A9FF29991B6FA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>all authorities that will authorize or require the Secretary of the Interior to influence local land use decisions (such as zoning) or place restrictions on non-Federal land if the area studied under this Act is designated under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act;</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HB2A39761E9714915A5C0C2ADA5E3B48E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>all authorities that the Secretary of the Interior may use to condemn property if the area studied under this Act is designated under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act; and</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HE0C0769A0EEB4C469F48DF52C14197A8"><enum>(C)</enum><text>all private property located in the area to be studied under this Act.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph></section>
