<official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the West Hunter Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and for other purposes.<pagebreak/></official-title>

<section id="HB83AAC636A5C4FC4B639DE2CE084C2C5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>West Hunter Street Baptist Church Study Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H362E49459B56402283DCEC40A0341CE5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special resource study</header>
<subsection id="H6C728822AF524F3FB629CDA00C08E8C0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Study</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of the Interior shall conduct a special resource study of the historic West Hunter Street Baptist Church, located at 775 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW., Atlanta, Georgia and the block on which the church is located.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H38408AF47DFA4C4481F4DE6F432F82B2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—</text>
<paragraph id="H31976162928441CFA3E3979BBE4FBF7B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>evaluate the national significance of the site;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H7F372EF0DEF84CBA99EB0F87D981ED1F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the area as a unit of the National Park System;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HCA93F2D8607C44C383A36EB1A40E1671"><enum>(3)</enum><text>consider other alternatives for preservation, protection, and interpretation of the site by Federal, State, or local governmental entities, or private and nonprofit organizations;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H18D92579433B4F03A4BC350BDE7918F4"><enum>(4)</enum><text>consult with interested Federal, State, or local governmental entities, private and nonprofit organizations or any other interested individuals; </text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H017E599276F049FFA7D004CF020BB251"><enum>(5)</enum><text>identify cost estimates for any Federal acquisition, development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with the alternatives; </text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HC890BA6E0C064489B38FF9AA66820D64"><enum>(6)</enum><text>consider the effect of the designation of the study area as a unit of the National Park System on—</text>
<subparagraph id="HEBA4F435A39C48F0AA2281BA427A0350"><enum>(A)</enum><text>existing commercial and recreational activities, including but not limited to hunting, fishing, and recreational shooting, and on the authorization, construction, operation, maintenance, or improvement of energy production and transmission infrastructure; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="HBC6A1856C70949E6BCD243E1B3FE0468"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the authority of State and local governments to manage those activities.</text></subparagraph></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H3638069E8B2242DAA66831670CBC18B6"><enum>(7)</enum><text>identify any authorities, including condemnation, that will compel or permit the Secretary to influence or participate in local land use decisions (such as zoning) or place restrictions on non-Federal lands if the study area is designated a unit of the National Park System.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H147A695652E641DE9588896BB87A084C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Notification of private property owners</header><text>Upon commencement of the study, owners of private property adjacent to the area will be notified of the study’s commencement and scope.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="HD2F81782CB194A16B7448D81D4078519"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Applicable Law</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The study required under subsection (a) shall be conducted in accordance with the National Park System General Authorities Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1a-5">16 U.S.C. 1a-5(c)</external-xref>).</text></subsection>
<subsection id="HBCC8E7999C0940E89839A41AC68F9D3B"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are first made available for the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report containing the results of the study and any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary.</text></subsection></section>
