<official-title display="yes">To amend the National Historic Preservation Act to provide that if the head of the agency managing Federal property objects to the inclusion of certain property on the National Register or its designation as a National Historic Landmark for reasons of national security, the Federal property shall be neither included nor designated until the objection is withdrawn, and for other purposes.<pagebreak/></official-title>

<section id="H9A608075DF444FB5BADD343F8590D675" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Military Land and National Defense Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>Military LAND Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H3FE41A3F868F456C935CD947DAA75EE5" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments to the National Historic Preservation Act</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 101(a) of the National Historic Preservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/470a">16 U.S.C. 470a(a)</external-xref>) is amended as follows:</text>
<paragraph id="H826F86B042234EADA823291A44C11F0E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>In paragraph (2)—</text>
<subparagraph id="H6BB8EB8FCF324F59ABCDA6D365A3E682"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subparagraph (E), by striking <quote>; and</quote> and inserting a semicolon;</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="H5A53147791834FC7A3C9C192AE0A9744"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subparagraph (F), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></subparagraph>
<subparagraph id="HBD0AE026A6364B9785DFDF38F49D00E9"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subparagraph id="H809E800310644F88B66061DB65F534DC" indent="up1"><enum>(G)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">notifying the Committee on Natural Resources of the United States House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate if the property is owned by the Federal Government when the property is being considered for inclusion on the National Register, for designation as a National Historic Landmark, or for nomination to the World Heritage List.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HA460FA58E85B4C1AAADEDDDE6FC8B750"><enum>(2)</enum><text>By redesignating paragraphs (7) and (8) as paragraphs (8) and (9), respectively.</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H292E83ADE53141008B3B5C14E00CF2BC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>By inserting after paragraph (6) the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H16E194B0DB3A4850ADC60F40C107EFD4"><enum>(7)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If the head of the agency managing any Federal property objects to such inclusion or designation for reasons of national security, such as any impact the inclusion or designation would have on use of the property for military training or readiness purposes, that Federal property shall be neither included on the National Register nor designated as a National Historic Landmark until the objection is withdrawn.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H751D171E6FE4403DA24AB0CB39BB17B9"><enum>(4)</enum><text>By adding after paragraph (9) (as so redesignated by paragraph (2) of this section) the following:</text>
<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HC8A4D65EA044455CBEC21FD93FB3E30D" style="OLC">
<paragraph id="H26773153199F467ABB862F02CE7A97E9"><enum>(10)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall promulgate regulations to allow for expedited removal of Federal property listed on the National Register of Historic Places if the managing agency of that Federal property submits to the Secretary a written request to remove the Federal property from the National Register of Historic Places for reasons of national security, such as any impact the inclusion or designation would have on use of the property for military training or readiness purposes.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
