		<official-title display="yes">To amend the Federal Credit Union Act to extend insurance coverage to amounts held in a member
			 account on behalf of another person, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HD2B98812B7FC44C9A18DD9E7AD6F7315" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Credit Union Share Insurance Fund Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HEBEE37A7E8704D3AB23F776EC558A9A5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Insurance of amounts held on behalf of others</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 207(k) of the Federal Credit Union Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/1787">12 U.S.C. 1787(k)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HA9D89659421840ABB7E264B6E3BBA5CB"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (1)(A)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="H020AF42BAF974C5AB3A9525450D0F4D0"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by inserting after <quote>payable to any member</quote> the following: <quote>, or to any person with funds lawfully held in a member account,</quote>; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4AB451CB76F94DDBB25023AD18F0CEAB"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and paragraphs (5) and (6)</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HC0B3B3A053E54CE683390280035E07DA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2)(A), by striking <quote>(as determined under paragraph (5))</quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H155F1D2B6B144A93BD3138E805F7A24E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (5) as paragraph (6); and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HB4CEB670964941288E02A91A1E934630"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (4) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5CCD532A164A4D26BE32B5D1B8CE8FAE" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HFA22351F68B141C8B4145D1FE3126E83"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Coverage for Interest On Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) and other similar escrow accounts</header>
						<subparagraph id="HC06CF6E61A3C4FB6AF463E1DEAE18638"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Pass-through insurance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Administration shall provide pass-through share insurance for the deposits or shares of any
			 interest on lawyers trust account (IOLTA) or other similar escrow
			 accounts.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8A6223CD31ED42A0A5E53ED61CC34AC4"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Treatment of IOLTAs</header>
							<clause id="HC459765396BB4B5387A0E52AE685740C"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Treatment as escrow accounts</header><text>For share insurance purposes, IOLTAs are treated as escrow accounts.</text>
							</clause><clause id="H8AB5D04E0D5746F0B636BB935E7BE0AD"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Treatment as member accounts</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">IOLTAs and other similar escrow accounts are considered member accounts for purposes of paragraph
			 (1), if the attorney administering the IOLTA or the escrow agent
			 administering the escrow account is a member of the insured credit union
			 in which the funds are held.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H596AE414060B48109D0E205CF7319390"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>For purposes of this paragraph:</text>
							<clause id="HC02BE4DA8E534440AF9C8EA10298A8C6"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Interest on lawyers trust account</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The terms <quote>interest on lawyers trust account</quote> and <quote>IOLTA</quote> mean a system in which lawyers place certain client funds in interest-bearing or dividend-bearing
			 accounts, with the interest or dividends then used to fund programs such
			 as legal service organizations who provide services to clients in need.</text>
							</clause><clause id="HA9BDC976CD914523B1B227EB18FBCA02"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Pass-through share insurance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>pass-through share insurance</quote> means, with respect to IOLTAs and other similar escrow accounts, insurance coverage based on the
			 interest of each person on whose behalf funds are held in such accounts by
			 the attorney administering the IOLTA or the escrow agent administering a
			 similar escrow account, in accordance with regulations issued by the
			 Administration.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H964B0ABC1B0F47538BC2C332BE0BEB47"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Rule of construction</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No provision of this paragraph shall be construed as authorizing an insured credit union to accept
			 the deposits of an IOLTA or similar escrow account in an amount greater
			 than such credit union is authorized to accept under any other provision
			 of Federal or State law.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
