<section id="H9DF4755F6B8E414FB1B4A0147EA2D268" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Treatment of clinical psychologists as physicians for purposes of furnishing clinical psychologist services</header> 
<subsection id="H06DE593EE4534C88A1D32B9E8BB5B8A8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The first sentence of section 1861(r) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395x">42 U.S.C. 1395x(r)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H11CA9B05A22042CEB34477C2B2D88769"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>or</quote> before <quote>(5)</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HD466B7FDD8AF425CBC662407DF5DC495"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting before the period the following: <quote>, or (6) a clinical psychologist, but only with respect to the furnishing of qualified psychologist services described in subsection (ii) for which the psychologist is legally authorized to perform by the State and who is acting within the scope of the psychologist’s license (or other authorization under State law)</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H99F02296DDD94314ABE9C9EBAB6E019F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to items and services furnished on or after January 1, 2014.</text></subsection></section>
