		<official-title>To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to
		  establish a base minimum wage for tipped employees.</official-title>

		<section id="H7CF7A9F96FA14D31A3085C235028DDDA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Working for Adequate Gains for
			 Employment in Services Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>WAGES
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H01CA4CAF793B48269AFFE77D2E0F204D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Base minimum wage
			 for tipped employees</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section
			 3(m)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/203">29 U.S.C. 203(m)(1)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by adding before the semicolon the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HEC812E25FD144878AF77B304358A43E7" style="OLC">
				<text>, except that, for purposes of this
			 paragraph, the cash wage paid such employee shall be not less
			 than—</text><subparagraph id="HE022FBB76F23420F814AE8D54B3C634C"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$3.75 an hour beginning 90 days after the
				date of enactment of the <short-title>Working for Adequate
				Gains for Employment in Services Act</short-title>;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HA8F2F2DAA01C411C88C0701E70295655"><enum>(B)</enum><text>$5.00 an hour
				beginning 1 year after the date on which the change required by subparagraph
				(A) takes effect; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1436F34DE60648D8BE2A7D8DF76C5AE4"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">beginning 2 years after the date on which
				the change required by subparagraph (A) takes effect and adjusted as necessary
				thereafter, 70 percent of the wage in effect under section 6(a)(1) but in no
				case less than $5.50 an
				hour.</text>
				</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
		</section><section id="H30127C8766E84E1AA6C989DD49281C8F"><enum>3.</enum><header>Publication of
			 notice</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 6 of the Fair
			 Labor Standards Act of 1938 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/206">29 U.S.C. 206</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HCBF235626CA84A44ACDC5E4747FF42F3" style="traditional">
				<subsection id="HA6259665EB2C4F1ABFAB8F40E1F91BDD"><enum>(h)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 10 days prior to the
				effective date of any increase in the minimum wage for tipped employees in
				accordance with section 3(m)(1), the Secretary shall publish (in the Federal
				Register and on the Internet website of the Department of Labor) a notice
				announcing the adjusted required
				wage.</text>
				</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
