		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exempt
		  certain emergency medical devices from the excise tax on medical devices, and
		  for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HAF07F0D01DC74D20973834F2ADED486D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>First Responder Medical Device Tax
			 Relief Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H0F4F48B8AC8C48F3BE6D400A23DE342C" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Repealing first
			 responders emergency medical equipment tax</header>
			<subsection id="HD04B0D894DB0467095651DDCC4908346"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Paragraph (2) of
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/4191">section 4191(b)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking
			 <quote>and</quote> at the end of subparagraph (C), by redesignating
			 subparagraph (D) as subparagraph (E), and by inserting after subparagraph (C)
			 the following new subparagraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAA5F9494CE0C41FA892D325053D9A4B3" style="OLC">
					<subparagraph id="H158D6E1BDB58464F978E9419FBF69E83"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">qualified emergency medical devices,
				and</text>
					</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H66FFCC3C9FB84C819560806C280C36C5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualified
			 emergency medical device</header><text>Subsection (b) of section 4191 of such
			 Code is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H51CEADDD083445C299E84AD78792D540" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H044BD851E1AA42B2A6D4EFB2A4DAFC61"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Qualified
				emergency medical device</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The
				term <term>qualified emergency medical device</term> means any medical device
				of a type furnished by first responders or ambulance services in providing
				out-of-hospital or pre-hospital care, or transport to a medical care facility,
				for individuals—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H2BA10234975F43B3851D80136756BE06"><enum>(A)</enum><text>with illnesses,
				injuries, or other medical emergencies, or</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3E48C3CBBF4944D69038354C4004F106"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in need of medical
				transport, extrication, or
				evacuation.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H2C7FF59FD13747EAB7B6DC57F2C79C4A"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Certain
			 exemptions made applicable</header>
				<paragraph id="HE12B79E962BD4E879AB4AEE8A6AB06EE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The last sentence
			 of subsection (a) of section 4221 of such Code is amended by striking
			 <quote>(4),</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H23DE7550D1C2466BA7CFF0C04FD6DF0D"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The last sentence of paragraph (2) of
			 section 6416(b) of such Code is amended by striking <quote>(C),</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H60702C1AFE18482889BAC8CFBC1C3E57"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to sales
			 after December 31, 2012.</text>
