			 the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within

		<section id="H045ED24FDCC44C33856FEA223F06F778" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Parental Bereavement Act of
			 2013</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>Sarah Grace-Farley-Kluger
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H55A3BCAE6690453AA178A73F656AAB4B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Family leave
			 because of the death of a son or daughter</header>
			<subsection id="H84B634C6DC6D49BBA104E0C0669E45F8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Family
			 leave</header>
				<paragraph id="H54208F02EDF24281BD5728B28F40F66F"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Entitlement to
			 leave</header><text>Section 102(a)(1) of the Family and Medical Leave Act of
			 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(a)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 subparagraph:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H99105FEF312E4896BBEC09AF87CAF651" style="OLC">
						<subparagraph id="HEAEC2363E1B643A18A38A1D9A4FB9C07"><enum>(F)</enum><text>Because of the
				death of a son or
				daughter.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HF5A2E753229D4835A73A06DA4F507D2B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Requirements
			 relating to leave</header>
					<subparagraph id="H785FC7FC2FC144A88B6DE725AAA337A9"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Schedule</header><text>Section
			 102(b)(1) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(b)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after the
			 third sentence the following new sentence: <quote>Leave under subsection
			 (a)(1)(F) shall not be taken by an employee intermittently or on a reduced
			 leave schedule unless the employee and the employer of the employee agree
			 otherwise.</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H81F93FBB9B954143A4C297D7CAC40F4C"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Substitution of
			 paid leave</header><text>Section 102(d)(2)(B) of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2612(d)(2)(B)) is amended, in the first sentence, by striking <quote>(C) or
			 (D)</quote> and inserting <quote>(C), (D), or (F)</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC734547281674C58B30F06123982BADC"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Notice</header><text>Section
			 102(e) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(e)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the
			 following new paragraph:</text>
						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9F010466ADD546F4BED8DE7907AB1C5A" style="OLC">
							<paragraph id="HD7E262C4FD9B448A858B62EBE356303A"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Notice for leave
				due to death of a son or daughter</header><text>In any case in which the
				necessity for leave under subsection (a)(1)(F) is foreseeable, the employee
				shall provide such notice to the employer as is reasonable and
				practicable.</text>
							</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H715623A181E149B0B7E99CFC11374108"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Spouses employed
			 by same employer</header><text>Section 102(f)(1)(A) of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2612(f)(1)(A)) is amended by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) or (B)</quote>
			 and inserting <quote>subparagraph (A), (B), or (F)</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC5AD1EEFDA6A42C99BA5AD93A90746A8"><enum>(E)</enum><header>Certification
			 requirements</header><text>Section 103 of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2613">29 U.S.C. 2613</external-xref>) is amended
			 by adding at the end the following:</text>
						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5B6E45CC76E74C819D870837BDAB4E34" style="OLC">
							<subsection id="HB9963F6E089D4F21BDE9E9EF16910FA9"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Certification
				related to the death of a son or daughter</header><text>An employer may require
				that a request for leave under section 102(a)(1)(F) be supported by a
				certification issued at such time and in such manner as the Secretary may by
				regulation prescribe. If the Secretary issues a regulation requiring such
				certification, the employee shall provide, in a timely manner, a copy of such
				certification to the employer.</text>
							</subsection><after-quoted-block>.
				</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD1D20E879D7D4BC3A6359CD545AEE029"><enum>(F)</enum><header>Failure to
			 return from leave</header><text>Section 104(c) of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2614">29 U.S.C. 2614(c)</external-xref>)
			 is amended—</text>
						<clause id="H736A91E64A554510BBC8578B505D70B1"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in
			 paragraph (2)(B)(i), by inserting before the semicolon the following: <quote>,
			 or a death that entitles the employee to leave under section
			 102(a)(1)(F)</quote>; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="H56B4F1E8402643609558D1CCBA3B10FE"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>in
			 paragraph (3)(A)—</text>
							<subclause id="HEC7D57BD85324FB29B686A728C925D56"><enum>(I)</enum><text>in the matter
			 preceding clause (i), by inserting <quote>, or the death,</quote> before
			 <quote>described</quote>;</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="H60081520CC3347C0BCB24118DF88178E"><enum>(II)</enum><text>in clause (ii),
			 by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="HD4DCB38FCDD840BBBF0D85828AFDA6DD"><enum>(III)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 clause (iii) as clause (iv); and</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="HC6BD642F6D944558BF96EE99C1B6BB80"><enum>(IV)</enum><text>by inserting
			 after clause (ii) the following:</text>
								<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H861AEBDD273A408A97C5B03E289E5DB5" style="OLC">
									<clause id="H29B5E9742C6942DA88DB2CEFE287B333"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>a certification
				that meets such requirements as the Secretary may by regulation prescribe, in
				the case of an employee unable to return to work because of a death specified
				in section 102(a)(1)(F);
				or</text>
									</clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
							</subclause></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H38E45387A9494806802979D167159C3C"><enum>(G)</enum><header>Employees of
			 local educational agencies</header><text>Section 108 of such Act (29 U.S.C.
			 2618) is amended—</text>
						<clause id="HF32CD6B18EA0431D94395E4BD12FA3ED"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in
			 subsection (c)—</text>
							<subclause id="H78096102FDD74B249C2B050B0DE85ECD"><enum>(I)</enum><text>in paragraph
			 (1)—</text>
								<item id="H7263E4F9E4FE40A68CDB846AE497FC8F"><enum>(aa)</enum><text>in
			 the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by inserting after <quote>medical
			 treatment</quote> the following: <quote>, or under section 102(a)(1)(F) that is
			 foreseeable,</quote>; and</text>
								</item><item id="H84E543A0AAE34009BDDD7B971585B783"><enum>(bb)</enum><text>in
			 subparagraph (A), by inserting after <quote>to exceed</quote> the following:
			 <quote>(except in the case of leave under section 102(a)(1)(F))</quote>;
			 and</text>
								</item></subclause><subclause id="HF3EAE6AE348446F5AFD0A1A4A08D0DC9"><enum>(II)</enum><text>in paragraph (2),
			 by striking <quote>section 102(e)(2)</quote> and inserting <quote>paragraphs
			 (2) and (4) of section 102(e), as applicable</quote>; and</text>
							</subclause></clause><clause id="H6EA6A3527F0C47A59775DF4027126162"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>in
			 subsection (d), in paragraph (2) and (3), by striking <quote>or (C)</quote>
			 each place it appears and inserting <quote>(C), or (F)</quote>.</text>
						</clause></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H61477A6F5A5D47A7A1DE64329BAF232C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Family leave for
			 civil service employees</header>
				<paragraph id="H98465428C7AE42F69EFFAE1A89865141"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Entitlement to
			 leave</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/6382">Section 6382(a)(1)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is
			 amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD6B3DA4E0774495B8F5D24057DE87A6B" style="OLC">
						<subparagraph id="HBA57B81A3AE042C88954C2EE2CC9ACBE" indent="up1"><enum>(F)</enum><text>Because of the death of a son or
				daughter.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H8AC9BE102AB549F9A015503B4C948ABB"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Requirements
			 relating to leave</header>
					<subparagraph id="H1F1CEAF654684FF2B4E7D3E572C490E6"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Schedule</header><text>Section
			 6382(b)(1) of such title is amended by inserting after the third sentence the
			 following new sentence: <quote>Leave under subsection (a)(1)(F) shall not be
			 taken by an employee intermittently or on a reduced leave schedule unless the
			 employee and the employing agency of the employee agree
			 otherwise.</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H351498D740224DD5AFA5619A5FDF907D"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Substitution of
			 paid leave</header><text>Section 6382(d) of such title is amended, in the first
			 sentence, by striking <quote>or (E)</quote> and inserting <quote>(E), or
			 (F)</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4BB57C83413F42A0B8FAD6EE56FC93AE"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Notice</header><text>Section
			 6382(e) of such title is amended by adding at the end the following new
			 paragraph:</text>
						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5F84D117FC39451CBA74E4547AD3B00D" style="OLC">
							<paragraph id="H6E54EA17A3544B7A95AF390DF1975C26" indent="up1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>In any case in which the necessity
				for leave under subsection (a)(1)(F) is foreseeable, the employee shall provide
				such notice to the employing agency as is reasonable and
				practicable.</text>
							</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEC6BA4057AEC4C79B5FD4829B1ED8954"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Certification
			 requirements</header><text>Section 6383 of such title is amended by adding at
			 the end the following:</text>
						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8DFEDF7A74C84C1AA12D899A7F7AA79C" style="OLC">
							<subsection id="HD745829F53CD44E39EBE34FB837FE738"><enum>(g)</enum><text>An employing
				agency may require that a request for leave under section 6382(a)(1)(F) be
				supported by a certification issued at such time and in such manner as the
				Office of Personnel Management may by regulation prescribe. If the Office
				issues a regulation requiring such certification, the employee shall provide,
				in a timely manner, a copy of such certification to the
				employer.</text>
							</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body>
