		  percent and to eliminate automatic pay adjustments for

		<section id="H8F0F5A118309410DBA89CDFBA6A76856" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Congressional Halt in Pay Increases
			 and Cut Congressional Pay Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HAD1679F54EC646FA90618B7ABD75D11D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reduction in
			 pay</header>
			<subsection id="HA4985A8D53EB44D89C55182CB62378F0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 601(a) of the
			 Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/31">2 U.S.C. 31</external-xref>) is amended to read as
			 follows:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF9E4B61F4494479884FB9F5677F8E0F4" style="traditional">
					<section id="H1D7140FBE75D4EC28CA21B8C298E5ADC"><enum>601.</enum><subsection commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H0EAE9C0F56CF491C9ADC4808BA68B410"><enum>(a)</enum><text>Effective as of the
				beginning of the first applicable pay period commencing after the date on which
				is held the next regularly scheduled general election for Federal office
				following the date of the enactment of the <short-title>Congressional Halt in Pay Increases and Cut Congressional
				Pay Act</short-title>, the annual rate of pay for—</text>
							<paragraph id="HBECEA5C3FFC84EECBF16718036093364"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">each Senator, Member of the House of
				Representatives, and Delegate to the House of Representatives, and the Resident
				Commissioner from Puerto Rico,</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H9B9366BB26E54EACB56C9E2C1C65910C"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the President pro tempore of the Senate,
				the majority leader and the minority leader of the Senate, and the majority
				leader and the minority leader of the House of Representatives, and</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="HC51951CB2BFC426EA6785E4360C21D99"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Speaker of the
				House of Representatives,</text>
							</paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">shall be
				equal to the annual rate of pay for that position as of the date on which such
				general election is held, reduced by 10
				percent.</continuation-text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H293E75CCD91A44F181BDB88C984F64CE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>Subsection (a) shall take effect as of the date on which is
			 held the next regularly scheduled general election for Federal office following
			 the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
