Short title

This Act may be cited as the Commuter Rail Passenger Safety Act.

Positive train control systems

Section 502(b)(1) of the Railroad Revitalization and Regulatory Reform Act of 1976 (45 U.S.C. 822(b)(1)), is amended—(1)in subparagraph (B), by striking or;(2)in subparagraph (C), by striking facilities. and inserting facilities; or; and(3)by adding at the end the following:(D)implement a positive train control system, as required by section 20157 of title 49, United States Code..

Extension of railroad safety technology grants

Section 20158(c) of title 49, United States Code, is amended—(1)by striking $50,000,000 and inserting $100,000,000; and(2)by striking 2009 through 2013 and inserting 2014 through 2018.
