R. 3632</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20131202">December 2, 2013</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="K000362">Mr. King of Iowa</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="C001095">Mr. Cotton</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reallocate Federal judgeships for the courts of appeals, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD55000948D0B4C1993CBB2BA6595798A" style="OLC"><section id="H94CFF809F6AA41C881F93EC65B4163CF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Court Efficiency Act of 2013</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HB919CE92785246628B5514E3BD1E8464" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reallocation of Federal judgeships</header><subsection id="H11F31744D7CC4355B94E37612E2C7511"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The President shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate—</text><paragraph id="HC4B5BD86075F4A4EA444E91BFBD865CB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>1 additional circuit judge for the second circuit court of appeals; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H304D4C88919F47F080AF02ACF9EE4711"><enum>(2)</enum><text>1 additional circuit judge for the eleventh circuit court of appeals.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H41CDB6A16FDC4F278308651C321E4417"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/28/44">Section 44(a)</external-xref> of title 28, United States Code, is amended in the table—</text><paragraph id="HFCA7D6AF2EE443648E3A16280B30C748"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the item relating to the District of Columbia circuit court of appeals, by striking <quote>11</quote> and inserting <quote>8</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HC77D55DCE3B3440D9AC4B6524A942C01"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in the item relating to the second circuit court of appeals, by striking <quote>13</quote> and inserting <quote>14</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE1A79F848AB1460B9E6F6A0FBC23F668"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in the item relating to the eleventh circuit court of appeals, by striking <quote>12</quote> and inserting <quote>13</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
