R. 3500</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20131114">November 14, 2013</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="M001160">Ms. Moore</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000009">Ms. Kaptur</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001072">Mr. Carson of Indiana</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000053">Mr. Rangel</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000911">Ms. Brown of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="E000288">Mr. Ellison</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000455">Ms. Fudge</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C000714">Mr. Conyers</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="J000288">Mr. Johnson of Georgia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="J000032">Ms. Jackson Lee</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S001145">Ms. Schakowsky</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Government Reform</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To provide for the compensation of Federal contractor employees that were placed on unpaid leave as a result of the Federal Government shutdown, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H126D671567D246F5ABA53853E7EFBB0D" style="OLC"><section id="HF9F6FDE8FEC74935AE5B8216CE4C28E8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Low-Wage Federal Contractor Employee Back Pay Act of 2013</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H9AC1C277B8BA4CA7A595BBB9E32E04FC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Compensation for furloughed Federal contractor employees</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Division A of the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2014 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/113/46">Public Law 113–46</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAA53D5F4B20D4E07A6F56A9D4B92C08B" style="appropriations"><section id="HEF42E04AF94B4794B91F3837BB1D9E33"><enum>158.</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If a Federal contractor that provides retail, food, custodial, and security services to the Federal Government places the employees of such contractor on unpaid leave as a result of any lapse in appropriations which begins on or about October 1, 2013, the Government shall provide compensation to such employees at their standard rate of compensation for the period of such lapse.</text></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
