R. 3231</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20131002">October 2, 2013</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000592">Mr. Poe of Texas</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAP00">Committee on Appropriations</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>Making automatic continuing appropriations for law enforcement, crime prevention, and victim services programs of the Department of Justice in the event of a Government shutdown.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HB46FB1B2A20E4E3499F4905141A48484" style="OLC"><section id="id0FD1582868584E2C93D77B2FDC986833" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Continuing Protection for Victims and Law Enforcement Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H5F307548220A4726BC66F40B3F5D0839" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Automatic continuing appropriations for law enforcement, crime prevention, and victim services programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">There are hereby appropriated for fiscal year 2014, for any period during which a joint resolution or other Act making appropriations for commerce, justice, science, and related agencies is not in effect, such sums as may be necessary for continuing law enforcement, crime prevention, and victim services programs for which funds were made available in title II of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2013 (division B of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/113/6">Public Law 113–6</external-xref>), at a rate for operations as provided for such purposes by such Act (as reduced by the Presidential sequestration order dated March 1, 2013).</text></section><section id="H07166B62BA464862B32ED10ADB9F43F6"><enum>3.</enum><header>Treatment of expenditures at end of automatic CR period</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Expenditures made available pursuant to this Act shall be charged to the applicable appropriation whenever a regular or continuing appropriations Act described in section 2 is enacted into law.</text></section><section id="HFFDF4BBE59B54317BC847FCD5E267502"><enum>4.</enum><header>Availability of appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Unless otherwise provided for in this Act or in the applicable appropriations Act for fiscal year 2014, appropriations and funds made available and authority granted pursuant to this Act shall be available until whichever of the following first occurs:</text><paragraph id="HEFA2C69EF5AB49FE9EF1BF8185EB3603"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The enactment into law of an appropriation for any project or activity provided for in this Act.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA8DFBA52660345B1AE0D25FA931A4D3B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The enactment into law of the applicable appropriations Act for fiscal year 2014 without any provision for such project or activity.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H0B7906FBE0E849F2948EA2AAD78E7E57"><enum>(3)</enum><text>December 15, 2013.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
