		<section id="H8F87264A24AC49338DBE6650187CB0CD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Congress is Not a Career
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HBF0AD713115C4599BE74380D926FD54C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Granting Members
			 of Congress the option to decline certain benefits</header>
			<subsection id="HCF68B405F2024759A3E6530705D700E8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Federal
			 Employees Retirement System opt out</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/8401">Section 8401(20)</external-xref> of title 5, United States
			 Code, is amended by striking <quote>, and who</quote> and all that follows
			 through <quote>2004</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H7FB9398DBC6649918FA9825B7A4246DD"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Thrift Savings
			 Plan agency contribution opt out</header><text>Section 8432(c) of such title is
			 amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE914278F32684ED19E00252DBEAED356" style="USC">
					<paragraph id="H3099EB29F15C41AA975D93F43866C72F"><enum>(4)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H3CE56282C915408B9D7BA380C7555EDA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Notwithstanding any
				other provision of this subsection, contributions under paragraphs (1) through
				(3) may not be made in the case of any Member who makes an election under
				subparagraph (B).</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H0A3D8730A3AF453D89B834AB2E0E74FC" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Any Member may, by written notice to
				the official by whom such Member is paid, elect not to receive contributions
				under this subsection. An election under this subparagraph—</text>
							<clause id="HB10E67B507DF465792B9423315A5B8CA"><enum>(i)</enum><text>shall be effective with respect to
				pay periods beginning on or after the date on which such election is made;
				and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H7478D13721BF4C298211905D3D601CD2"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall be irrevocable.</text>
