		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide
		  veterans with a 1-year exemption from the requirement to maintain minimum
		  essential coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
		  Act.</official-title>

		<section id="H45ABBC6CAA9A44D4AF66FE441EA4CCB2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Fairness for America’s Heroes Act of
			 2013</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H9BB80D53AF7340CBBB6E57ADE2B1ADC4" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>1-year exemption for
			 veterans from individual mandate under Patient Protection and Affordable Care
			 Act</header>
			<subsection id="HFB6141CAA0DA4A438E8982E222548DE9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 5000A(e) of
			 the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by adding at the end the following
			 new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9E88E0BC1CFF4EEEB4CB646420148590" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HE97DD5E854A045D1AA1EB35FB1A92DE1"><enum>(6)</enum><header>Veterans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any applicable individual for any month
				beginning before January 1, 2015, if the individual is a veteran. For purposes
				of this paragraph, the term <term>veteran</term> means an individual who served
				on active duty (other than active duty for training) in the Armed Forces of the
				United States and has been discharged or released from active duty in the Armed
				Forces of the United States under conditions other than
				dishonorable.</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="H52E12F4F225C46709783B27BC382A334"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect as if
			 included in the amendments made by section 1501 of the Patient Protection and
			 Affordable Care Act.</text>
