R. 2871</legis-num><current-chamber display="yes">IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20131113">November 13, 2013</action-date><action-desc>Received</action-desc></action><legis-type>AN ACT</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 28, United States Code, to modify the composition of the southern judicial district of Mississippi to improve judicial efficiency, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H29AD8EDAE782408790872B00EB200551" style="OLC"><section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF9EE5626132F405190AA43A1B3D31A25" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Realignment of southern judicial district of Mississippi</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/28/104">Section 104(b)</external-xref> of title 28, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block id="H5C4D02DE7C584F6A913D70E3F30DBB70" other-style="archaic" style="other"><subsection id="H11DAF87DC41F4E34B8B0612D51ED6CA7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Southern District</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The southern district comprises four divisions.</text><paragraph id="HAAD7E89886F641C4BCF0D0418D9A1ACB"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Northern Division comprises the counties of Copiah, Hinds, Holmes, Issaquena, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Madison, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Sharkey, Smith, Warren, and Yazoo.</text></paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">Court for the Northern Division shall be held at Jackson.</continuation-text><paragraph id="H1A39A09BCBA7438DB2D692EA5126F765"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The Southern Division comprises the counties of George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, and Stone.</text></paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">Court for the Southern Division shall be held at Gulfport.</continuation-text><paragraph id="HC52E046133594254A74EAD0DED187440"><enum>(3)</enum><text>The Eastern Division comprises the counties of Clarke, Covington, Forrest, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion, Perry, Wayne, and Walthall.</text></paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">Court for the Eastern Division shall be held at Hattiesburg.</continuation-text><paragraph id="H80B590353DA44CA2AE9BC5D716297543"><enum>(4)</enum><text>The Western Division comprises the counties of Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Pike, and Wilkinson.</text></paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">Court for the Western Division shall be held at Natchez.</continuation-text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="H9629A9CD8197478487AF27C9ED38CA5E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act and the amendment made by this Act shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></section></legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date chamber="House" date="20131112">Passed the House of Representatives November 12, 2013.</attestation-date><attestor display="yes">Karen L.
