		<official-title>To amend title 18, United States Code to provide for
		  strengthened protections against theft of trade secrets, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H6644C66F888449128881EA688704A32A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Private Right of Action Against Theft
			 of Trade Secrets Act of 2013</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF29CCF5711C947A79AC5B4A3952C1FE4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Strengthening
			 protooecootion against theft of trade secrets</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/18/1832">Section 1832</external-xref> of title 18, United States
			 Code, is amended by inserting after subsection (b) the following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H72F621509D3342BBAAA7ED15F05EFA51" style="USC">
				<subsection id="H29F7D9D09A8B44FFBBC25E304F6CD15B"><enum>(c)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any person who suffers injury by reason of
				a violation of this section may maintain a civil action against the violator to
				obtain appropriate compensatory damages and injunctive relief or other
				equitable relief. No action may be brought under this subsection unless such
				action is begun within 2 years of the date of the act complained of or the date
				of the discovery of the damage.</text>
				</subsection><subsection id="H4C29226BC356405892E695FCDAF8AB71"><enum>(d)</enum><text>For purposes of
				this section, the term <term>without authorization</term> shall not mean
				independent derivation or working backwards from a lawfully obtained known
				product or service to divine the process which aided its development or
				manufacture.</text>
