		<official-title>To amend title 37, United States Code, to ensure that
		  footwear furnished or obtained by allowance for enlisted members of the Armed
		  Forces upon their initial entry into the Armed Forces complies with domestic
		  source requirements.</official-title>

		<section id="HC4E1B7CD4B564CF08173E0933A6D8EC3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Compliance with domestic
			 source requirements of footwear furnished or obtained by allowance for enlisted
			 members of the Armed Forces upon their initial entry into the Armed
			 Forces</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 418(a) of title
			 37, United States Code, is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H007B9157375E47B6883AB3C88E7DD650"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>(1)</quote> after <quote>(b)</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H82A666799B1B471DBC2AE0AB8E8E5327"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H4D0570CC6DCE4CBEA88E7DD183D20083" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H2AF35B53C2584598AD76DB02D81A4944" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H428AC439320C40E091CF2A057B0B9877"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The footwear prescribed
				under this section to be furnished to, or to be paid for by allowance under
				this section by, members upon their initial entry into armed forces shall
				comply with the requirements of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/2533a">section 2533a</external-xref> of title 10, without regard to
				the applicability of any simplified acquisition threshold under chapter 137 of
				title 10 (or any other provision of law) to the use of such allowance for such
				footwear.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H24C7A9EA32B64C77946C771AF791F42F" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Subparagraph (A) does not apply to
				athletic footwear furnished to, or paid for by allowance by, a member described
				in that subparagraph if such footwear—</text>
							<clause id="HDA0C611B2CC044C0A88C7CD8FA040D75"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is medically required to meet unique
				physiological needs of the member; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H1AAB730C207D4F19ABB954416C473EB8"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>cannot be met with athletic footwear
				that complies with the requirements referred to in that
				subparagraph.</text>
