		<official-title>To amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to codify
		  authority under existing grant guidance authorizing use of Urban Area Security
		  Initiative and State Homeland Security Grant Program funding for enhancing
		  medical preparedness, medical surge capacity, and mass prophylaxis
		  capabilities.</official-title>

		<section id="H5D4DE1455FCA45409EB883B3A6EFF2F9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Medical Preparedness Allowable Use
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H2BBE363542534B5B97FA8C5E2B02C8A3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Use of certain
			 homeland security grant funds for enhancing medical preparedness, medical surge
			 capacity, and mass prophylaxis capabilities</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2008 of the Homeland Security Act of
			 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/6/609">6 U.S.C. 609</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H3FFD5EBF13F348DFABA9B286B464093A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a),
			 by redesignating paragraphs (10) through (13) as paragraphs (11) through (14),
			 respectively, and by inserting after paragraph (9) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block id="H1E536413BEC441779B411002A52808C1" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H7923CBEE8991400DB85272FCA3477DA7"><enum>(10)</enum><text>enhancing medical
				preparedness, medical surge capacity, and mass prophylaxis capabilities,
				including the development and maintenance of an initial pharmaceutical
				stockpile, including medical kits, and diagnostics sufficient to protect first
				responders, their families, and immediate victims from a chemical or biological
				event;</text>
					</paragraph><after-quoted-block>;
				and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H26BA10ECD252457E929867293CB0BC5C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection
			 (b)(3)(B), by striking <quote>(a)(10)</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>(a)(11)</quote>.</text>
