		<official-title>To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide
		  for special immigrant status for certain spouses and children of employees of
		  the United States Government abroad killed in the line of
		  duty.</official-title>

		<section id="HB34E313F5835400AAB705D866EAA2ADA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Mustafa Akarsu Local Guard Force
			 Support Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H3FE11F5E0B7F41DFA6E9EBCE6C4BDAE8" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special immigrant
			 status for certain surviving spouses and children</header>
			<subsection id="H5898E7998E5245F48849D6481C6B101C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 101(a)(27) of
			 the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(27)</external-xref>) is amended in
			 subparagraph (D)—</text>
				<paragraph id="HBD1FAFA9D0144A24B724DE85EFF20DC8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>(i)</quote> before <quote>an immigrant who is an employee</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H30CF967A4A2C4AF387FAF1BC89F4F95A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting the
			 following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE98F9C78A0914CE4AD483EFC12E62033" style="OLC">
						<clause id="HAA08EC58B09A4C49BE861AE033743588" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an immigrant who is the surviving spouse or
				child of an employee of the United States Government abroad killed in the line
				of duty, provided that the employee had performed faithful service for a total
				of fifteen years, or more, and that the principal officer of a Foreign Service
				establishment (or, in the case of the American Institute of Taiwan, the
				Director thereof) in his discretion, recommends the granting of special
				immigrant status to the spouse and children and the Secretary of State approves
				such recommendation and find that it is in the national interest to grant such
				status;</text>
						</clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" id="H623D32D39573415E89F28C04B0C356B6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This Act and the
			 amendments made by this Act shall take effect beginning on January 31, 2013,
			 and shall have retroactive effect.</text>
