The specific objective of this project was to test the RAS model in several ways using a 1998 public opinion survey of Californians. The preliminary tests were intended to show whether the RAS model worked, and therefore whether this line of research should be pursued further. The tests were also intended to show which of several possible predispositions should be included in the survey being designed, and how well several indexes under consideration performed.
