- Abstract
- Understanding the types and locations of significant archaeological and cultural resources is essential to their preservation and consideration during planning for offshore renewable energy development. This includes submerged shipwreck and aircraft sites, significant Native Hawaiian cultural viewsheds between selected properties on the islands, and other traditional cultural properties important to Native Hawaiian communities. This study provides baseline data on Hawaii's underwater cultural heritage and land-based historic properties and identifies best practices for working with Native Hawaiian communities.
