The ADEON team established a long-term ecosystem observing network which provides baseline measurements and environmental monitoring across multiple disciplines, informing ecosystem-based management and a mechanistic understanding of cumulative impacts on marine resources. This study addresses measurements and objective metrics that allow for a quantitative assessment of the Mid- and South Atlantic Ocean region, including soundscape, with consideration of ecosystem conditions as they may be linked to extant biologic, geophysical-chemical, and/or anthropogenic processes. Consideration was also given to resolving periodicities in regional processes over long-time scales to establish a baseline for extracting trends.
