About the Coastal Zone Information Center Collection

The Coastal Zone Information Center (CZIC) collection on govinfo provides access to nearly 5,000 coastal related documents that GPO received from the NOAA Central Library. The collection provides almost 30 years of data and information crucial to the understanding of U.S. coastal management and NOAA’s mission to sustain healthy coasts. These documents were originally submitted to the NOAA Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) by state coastal zone management programs in accordance with the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) of 1972.

Searching the Coastal Zone Information Center Collection

You can find and search the Coastal Zone Information Center Collection by:

• Using Basic Search for keyword and metadata fielded searches,
• Using Advanced Search; fields specific to the Coastal Zone Information Center Collection will display after you select Coastal Zone Information Center Collection in the Refine by Collection column,
• Refining search results by clicking on links in the Refine Your Search panel on the left hand side of the page (the sections under Refine Your Search correspond to the metadata available for the documents), and
• Browsing the Coastal Zone Information Center Collection browse page.

Search Examples

Search by Keyword – For example, documents with the keywords “hydropower" and "development."

• Using Basic Search, enter: hydropower development collection:czic
• Using Advanced Search, select Coastal Zone Information Center under Refine by Collection, then under Search In enter hydropower development in the second text box.

Search by Subject Topic – For example, documents with "archaeology" in the subject topic.

• Using Basic Search, enter: collection:czic subjecttopic:archaeology
• Using Advanced Search, select Coastal Zone Information Center under Refine by Collection, then under Search In select Subject Topic from the first box and enter archaeology in the next box.

Search by Geographic Topic – For example, documents with "Maryland" in the geographic subject.

• Using Basic Search, enter: collection:czic geographictopic:Maryland
• Using Advanced Search, select Coastal Zone Information Center under Refine by Collection, then under Search In select Geographic Topic from the first box and enter Maryland in the next box.
